Description

NGC 6995 is a nebula complex located in the constellation Cygnus, also known as the Veil Nebula. It is a part of the larger Veil Nebula, which formed from the remnants of a supernova explosion. The nebula complex spans an area of about three degrees in the sky, which is roughly six times the diameter of the full moon.

NGC 6995 is characterized by its captivating structure, which has been shaped by energetic processes within the nebula. It is often described as a network of fine filaments and delicate loops that stretch across a diffuse, glowing background. These structures are the result of interactions between the energetic particles within the nebula and the surrounding interstellar medium.

The nebula primarily consists of ionized hydrogen gas that is excited to emit light by the intense radiation from young, hot stars embedded within it. The vibrant colors observed in the nebula, including shades of red and blue, are characteristic of the emission from ionized gas.
